Oh Hal

I know, I know, I've used that same title over and over again. I say the same thing to Dwayne quite frequently. I just can't help it when it comes to Hal. He's SUCH a doofus sometimes.

So...what would YOU do if you had the power of the Ring?

Hals Pictures

Apparently this guy just wants a cheap vacation. Well...that and a chance to be carried around by Mister Charisma here. Oh Hal. I know that all the other Lanterns think that you're just the ginchiest, but you should REALLY try and build up some sort of resistance to all that mind control.

What would you do if you could order Hal around? Personally, I would like a tour of the nearest Nebula...the stars would certainly be pretty...and then some black raspberry ice cream.

so glad Johns decided to enable the ring to be capable of resisting moderate mind control/telepathy with sufficient willpower in a forcefield (or so it seems compared to the past, anyway)... admittedly, takes away one of the biggest weaknesses GLs may have, but it seems kinda pointless that the most powerful weapon in the universe can be used by wrongdoers from all over the universe. Pretty much all Saturnians and Martians could pretty much have taken over the universe if it were that easy, leave alone the rest of the universe's population.

the Titanians, rather... my Legion knowledge isn't good enough to know whether telepathy is common enough elsewhere on Saturn and its moons. At any rate, enough mind control beings in the DC Universe to commandeer the entire Green Lantern Corps if the ring has no in-built defences. Not that anyone could accuse the Guardians of being intelligent, but even they aren't stupid enough to ignore such an obvious vulnerability, surely, especially as telekinetics who understand the powers of the mind! As long as a lantern has his shield up against it, telepathy really shouldn't be that big an issue.

You would THINK that the Guardians would make it so that their little Green Space Cops couldn't be easily swayed, but Hal's been mind-blasted SO many times. To my mind, the idea that he is supposed to be overflowing with willpower just makes it more hilarious.

I know that other lanterns have been mind controlled, but not to the same extent as Hal.

well, at least practice makes perfect... before Johns arrived on the scene, he wouldn't have been able to beat Jericho once Jericho got inside him.
Can't understand why writers who say he's got more willpower than any other guy make Hal seem less strongwilled when it comes to battles of will with villains than Superman and Batman, who seem to be able to shrug most mind control attacks off within a few minutes. I'll forgive the Parallax thing, marginally, cos Parallax was subtle enough about it to build up control over a long time. And once everyone knew about it, Hal seemed more capable of resisting Parallax than most others did. But everything else? ridiculous, these inconsistencies in how highly writers rate Hal's willpoower.

Ha! What *I* would order Hal to do can't be, er, discussed in a family blog. ;-)

Wear a helmet.

I second the 'Helmet motion.'

And tell him to finally seal the deal with Ollie and Barry- simultaneously. with those bromances, particularly with Ollie, it's been a long time coming.

Not to go for the obvious joke but...

Is it just me or is ordering a hynotised Hal Jordan of all people to "pick me up" a tad... risky?

Dwayne, I would NEVER call you a doofus! I was calling HAL a doofus. Because he is.

Oh...Sea!

Farsider, you're absolutely right.
*sigh*

Yes, a helmet WOULD be a prudent idea. Naturally it will never happen, because Hal would never voluntarily cover up his beautiful wavy hair.

Yeah, the whole thing with Ollie and Barry has been going on for a long time.

Oh James.
