Is it Just Me?

I'm not quite sure why there are all of these "greatest and worst of the Decade" lists going around. Isn't there another whole year to go? When I count to ten, I don't start with zero and end with nine, I start with one, and end with ten.

Oh well. My sweet Baboo assures me that I'm being a pedant. He's probably right.

And apropos of nothing...

Hoiday

This is by Black Cat who does such a hilarious job with her "Batman & Sons" cartoons. It's from last year, but it still cracks me up. And it's SO appropriate.

You're right--the next decade doesn't start until 2011. :)

And I love Black Cat's series. Her work is hilarious!!

We went through the whole counting thing with the new millennium. 2001 started the 21st Century, not 2000, etc etc. However, when I count, 1 might be the first number, but it means the end of the first year, so 2010 marks the end of the 10th year because 2009 was the end of the 9th year, etc etc. ;)

Personally, I ignore end of the year, end of the decade retrospectives.

Another comment because I forgot to subscribe to responses. Wish we could click that without commenting and have it work. ;)

It's hard to believe that it has already been nine years since the whole Y2K kerfuffle. Remember when we all thought the world was going to end in 2000 because none of the computers would work?

Ahh, good times, good times.

People naturally gravitate to large round numbers, but you are correct, the calendar switched from 1 BC to 1 AD without any regard for 0. As a computer science major this strikes me as sloppy, but as a result the decade goes from 1-0, not 0-9

Technically you're right, but the "80s" aren't 1981-1990, and the "90s" aren't 1991-2000. Just one of those things we have to deal with I guess.

I know, Sally. I can't believe Y2K was ten years ago. I remember waking up and hearing a radio report from Australia, 12 or so hours ahead of the U.S., saying everything was okay. No apoclypse. Darn.

Now I have 2012 to look forward to. I am planning for the impending end of the world in three years. I'm even throwing an Apocalypse Party.

Ahhh, I remember Y2K. Mr. Sea and I were out partying hearty that night, at one of the big, huge Millennium Celebrations. That was fun, fun, FUN. I can't believe how many cowards stayed home and hid under their blankets because of a potential computer kerfuffle -- that never happened. They missed out on the best party in 100 years.

I'm a computer geek. I start counting at zero. And I changed jobs January 1, 2000... just to be safe.
