This Could Be the Start of Something

I've had Whack a Lantern Week, I've had countless pictures of Hal suffering massive head trauma, not to mention countless other indignities, and any number of equally embarrasing moments for Guy and Kyle. John not so much. He just doesn't seem to suffer from the same tendancies towards bodily harm that the rest of them do.

The point is, that I think I'm going to do something a little...different this week. I'm showing pictures of the boys NOT being hit in the head, falling off of cliffs or on bars of soap. I'm going to show them looking...calm, collected and more or less sane. Pretty even. I know it's hard for some of you to actually picture them NOT making fools of themselves, but hey. Everybody has to look normal ONCE in a while.

Here's Hal being...suave.

Hal Pictures

And beating Bruce Wayne at his own game.

I'm going to guess that Hal built that stack of chips up from money Bruce originally fronted him. It's just too easy for me to picture Hal as the friend always bumming money off you. That's why his best friends were Barry (too nice to call him on it) and Ollie (rich, and guilty enough about it to give some to Hal without too much grief).

And you would be right, Calvin. Bruce started out with all the chips and all the babes, and tossed a couple of chips over to Hal. A few wildly reckless plays later, and Hal had all the chips AND all the girls. And Bruce was just stunned.

It was a lovely moment.

I like Bruce's line. I'm not quite sure if that's a compliment or a slight.

What issue is this from?

I do believe that this was either the first or second issue of the latest volume of the Brave & the Bold. It had Hal and Bats teaming up in Las Vegas of all places, in Roulette's casino looking for Destiny's Book. It was pretty great.

It was the first (or that was the impression I got from the TPB). The second, I think, had Hal go into space, after the perps, with Supergirl. A very entertaining team-up because she kept hitting on him and he had to use all that fabled willpower to keep reminding himself that she was 17 :P
Then again, she was a 17 year old in Kryptonian years, AND had been in suspended animation for almost as long as Superman had been alive. It's a good thing Hal didn't have the presence of mind to factor those bits of info in (though I doubt that second bit could be added on in years cos she was still physically and mentally the same age because of suspended animation).

Well, Hal pretty much told Supergirl that even if she WAS older, he wouldn't mess around with her -- primarily because he didn't want Superman mad at him.

For all the grief I give Hal, I do so love seeing Bruce Wayne beaten at anything by any Green Lantern.

And Hal has just the reckless crazy good luck to make this happen. Guy would have been a fortune in debt after one hand. :(

It's always a treat to see Batman actually at a loss for a change. And Hal, bless his heart, is just so smug about it.

Duskdog, I fear that you are correct about Guy. Hopefully, he's smart enough to not even try.
