Out of Context is Not Necessarily a Bad Thing

Gosh, that scan of Batman and Robin from yesturday was just so...so refreshingly awful. Sometimes, it's hard to come up with clever comments, or deeply introspective analysis, and one has to fall back upon that old crutch for the brain-dead blogger...silly pictures.

No context here. And by the way, I don't look anything LIKE that silly girl.

Other, that is, than the deep and abiding degree of loathing that I have towards the late and unlamented Terry Long. If he happens to be a favorite character of someone, then I apologize. Otherwise...yeccchhh.

He was just so SMARMY!

Great Rao!

That young woman couldn't even wait until the other students were all gone...

What exactly was Long's appeal supposed to be? Rocking-Beardfro?

who on earth is terry long? Donna's dead husband? he looks like a teenage girl dressed as a man from a monty python sketch.

Yes, he is indeed Donna Troy's dead husband.

Scary as heck, isn't he? There is actually a scan floating around on the Internet of him wearing a thong. I have even seen it, but refuse to ever ever show it, because it made my eyes bleed.

In addition to looking creepy, he also managed to hit on practically all of Donna's friends.

The lowdown, and the thong pic, can be seen here: http://www.cracked.com/article_16230_the-6-creepiest-comic-book-characters-all-time_p2.html

Say what you will about Nekron, at least he got Terry to dress appropriately.

Thank goodness Kyle split with Donna -- though they kinda deserved each other in a weird sort of way.

I think writer Marv Wolfman was himself rocking just such a beardfro at the time, so I suspect he wanted the character to go over a bit better. Can't believe it took them more than a decade to kill the guy, in retrospect. They were much quicker about Danny Chase.

I have heard the rumor that Terry Long was a "Marty-Stew" for Marv Wolfman before...which actually makes it all a little more creepy, since Terry Long was SUCH a douchebag.
